Editor-in-chief / Project initiator
Initiator and editor-in-chief of the journal SAVVY|art.contemporary.african. He is the founder and art director of the art space SAVVY Contemporary Berlin (www.savvy-contemporary.com). He has been the curator of several international exhibitions and has published numerous catalogues. He studied and earned a PhD in medical biotechnology (Technische Universität Berlin).
Andrea Heister has a Masters Degree in Philosophy (Munich School of Philosophy) and a Masters Degree in art education (Ludwigs-Maximilians-University, Munich). She studied “Visual Arts and Media” at the Université de Québec à Montreal, Canada and conducted a research project in Porto Alegre, Brazil, about intercultural art education. She taught art at a secondary school and got interested in intercultural perspectives on art, on which she writes critical texts. She specialized in Contemporary African art.
Clara Giacalone is currently in the Master's degree programme at the Art Historical Dept. of the Freie Universität Berlin. She graduated from the Universität Bayreuth with a B.A. in African Languages, Literatures and Arts. For her M.A. she is specializing on African art history. She was curatorial assistant in the exhibition project Afropolis. City, Media, Art. and has done several internships, amongst others at the Goethe Institut Nairobi, Kenya (2009) and the Centre for Contemporary Art in Lagos, Nigeria (2011).
Ato Malinda is a Nairobi based independent curator and artist. She has exhibited widely and participated in residencies in Africa, Europe and the Caribbean.
